Why do I think Pregnancy, Child Birth & Post Partum is a mental game altogether !

No one can rule out that pregnancy, child birth and postpartum requires more of physical strength that you never thought you possessed. But, when there is mental strength having your back, you become unstoppable.

I would break down this post to several incidents which changed the course of my motherhood journey so positively !

Incident 1 : Whenever I had to visit my Gyneo, the first thing she would say,

"You are not a patient and you do not visit me because of a disease. You are visiting me with a blessing i.e Pregnancy. You are normal like any other human being around, may be a very few restrictions here and there, otherwise, you are as simple as anyone else". She was the first one to changed my mindset about pregnancy, she made me feel as normal as possible and the physical challenges were easier to handle with this positive outlook to pregnancy.

Incident 2 : I am fortunate to have met my Yoga instructor during my journey to motherhood. Epitome of positive vibes.

Me : "Mam, I am scared. How, do I bring this baby out to the world so safe and healthy. Will I be able to do this?"

She : "Do you have any choice now Priyanka ? Out of so many women praying to have a baby, this baby chose you. This baby trusted that you would give it a safe haven. If the baby is trusting you & your body, why are you doubting it. You should be double ensuring your baby every single moment that you are here for her. 'Mumma, will bring you so safely to this beautiful world', that's what you keep repeating to yourself and your baby"

Incident 3 : It was just 12 hours after my C Section, the nurse was advising me to try getting up from the bed. I told her that I will do it the next day.

She put hands across my shoulders and told me "I am here and your husband is here, you can give it a try, if you trust us". I wasn't ready, still I tried. I couldn't place my leg even on the stool placed below the bed.

Me:" I told you right, I am not ready now. I am weak".

She: "Mam, you didn't even try. You believed that you are weak and hence you are." Let's try after some time with a fresh mind. My hubby quickly opened our suitcase, picked up my sandals and placed it below my bed. "You will need it in some time, I believe", he said. The rest of the story is history which any one can predict.

Incident 4 : I had an important exam scheduled right after the child birth. I had two options, either to skip it or to give it a try. With so much self doubt, I wanted to give it a try.

My daughter was just 10 days old & I started preparing for the exam.

When I look back today throughout the journey, there were so many physical challenges, break downs, tears & self doubts. But, one thing was constant, "My mental strength pushing against odds". I owe it to all the lovely positive souls who helped me immensely to traverse this journey. I just keep them in my prayers and wish them all blessings from above.

To anyone who is doubting themselves in their pursuit of anything in life, I have only one thing to say

 "Our Attitude is Everything"
